Rudy earned two degrees from the University of Toronto: a bachelor of science degree in pharmacy in 1961, and an LL.B. in 1967. He was called to the Bar in 1969 and joined Hamilton | Appotive in 2000.
Rudy has led seminars and lectured in various sections of the Bar Admission course, and has also lectured on several topics to the Carleton County Bar Association and the Law Society of Upper Canada. From 1996 to 2001, he was certified as a Specialist in Bankruptcy and Insolvency Law by the Law Society of Upper Canada. Rudy is the former secretary and legal counsel to the Canadian Conference of the Arts.
He is also an avid skier and past president of Le Cercle Universitaire d'Ottawa, a private club emphasizing fine cuisine.
