How do you prepare for your first visit?
Before visiting or calling us for the first time it is a good idea to take several steps to organize how you present your matter to us. This will make our meeting more productive and cost effective.
Step 1: Tell us who the various parties in this matter are. As lawyers we need to make sure we are not in a conflict of interest. If we already represent the party with whom you have a disagreement then we cannot also represent you. Obviously, we want to detect any possible conflict as early as possible.
Step 2: Organize all of the facts of the matter and write them down in chronological order. This will make it easier for us to follow as you describe the situation. When making such a chronology include all of the facts – good and bad.
Step 3: Make a list of the various people who may have information about the matter. If possible also provide their contact information.
Step 4: Organize and bring with you any documents that relate to the matter. This may include both paper and electronic documents.
Step 5: Make a list of questions or comments you have for us so we can deal with them during the meeting.
Step 6: Take a deep breath and relax. Although we cannot guarantee results our firm has been representing clients since 1977 and we will do our best to make sure you receive the quality representation we are known for.
